Adding the Print Queue on Windows 10 or Windows 11

The print queue is shared by the server printer.mat.univie.ac.at:

  • Please download the latest driver for the model "bizhub C751i" from the Konica Minolta Download Service page. Select your Operating System version from the list, scroll down to the "Universal Printer Driver" section and download the latest driver tagged with PCL6 in the Emulation column.
  • Unzip the downloaded driver after the download finishes.
  • For Windows 10: Press the Windows Start button, type in "Printer" and click on "Printer & Scanner" and then "Add a printer"
    • Click the "The printer that I want isn't listed" link.
    • Select "Select a shared printer by name" and fill in (without quotes): "https://printer.mat.univie.ac.at:631/printers/followme"; click "Next"
    • Now select the earlier downloaded driver by pressing "Have disk" and browse to your download folder and click open; click on the "OK" button; click "Next"
    • If you want you can set it as your default printer; click the "Finish" button
  • For Windows 11: Press the Windows Start button, type in "Printer" and click on "Printers & Scanners"
    • Find the line "Add a printer or scanner" and click on "Add Device".
    • Wait a few seconds until the section "The printer that I want isn't listed" and select "Add manually"
    • Select "Select a shared printer by name" and enter https://printer.mat.univie.ac.at:631/printers/followme and click "Next" afterwards
    • Now select the earlier downloaded driver by pressing "Have disk" and browse to your download folder and click open; click on the "OK" button; click "Next"
    • If you want you can set it as your default printer; click the "Finish" button
  • For Windows 10: Left click the new printer and select "Manage", then "Printer properties". Choose model "Konica M#inolta C751i"
    For Windows 11: Left click "Printer Properties". Choose model "Konica Minolta C751i"
  • Choose the "Ports" tab and click on the "Configure Port..." button
  • Select "Use the specified user account" and enter your math:account username and password
  • Click on "OK" and then choose the tab "Configuration"
  • Select Finisher "FS-539", Punch-Unit "PK-524 (2/4-Hole)", Stapling-Unit (deutsch: Sattelstich-Einheit, Win 10: Saddle Kit) "SD-511", Authentication must be DISABLED and the rest as is and click on the "Apply" button
  • Go to the tab "General" and select "Preferences..."; in the tab "Finish" set "Paper Arrangement" to "Prioritize Productivity"
  • The printer is now ready for use.

Adding the Print Queue on Linux

Depending on your choice of desktop environment the instructions differ. What you need to do:

  • Download the PPD file for Konica Minolta C554e to your computer.
  • Add a new network printer using the Internet Printing Protocol and use the URL ipps://USERNAME:PASSWORT@printer.mat.univie.ac.at/printers/followme for it (substitute USERNAME and PASSWORD with your math:account username and password). Depending on your desktop environment, it may not be necessary to enter your username/password credentials here. However, to ensure proper operation it is recommended!
  • When asked for the type of printer, select the PPD file downloaded in the first step.
  • There may be printer option conflicts which should not affect printing. Please try printing first. If it does not work, please contact us.

Adding the Print Queue on Mac OS X

  • Download the Apple Mac OS X printer driver for "Konica Minolta bizhub C551i" to your computer from Konica Minolta Download Service page by entering "bizhub c551i" into the "Search your product" field. Under "Drivers", choose "macOS Sonoma 14" (or newer, if available), then "Download" and accept the license. Install the downloaded DMG file to your computer. 
  • Now go to "System Settings" and select "Printers & Scanners".
  • Click on "Add Printer, Scanner or Fax..." and select the IP tab.
  • For the field "Address" use printer.mat.univie.ac.at and for the field "Queue" use printers/followme. (Protocol is "Internet Printing Protocol" but it should be selected by default.)
  • Fill in the name (e.g. followme) and the location of the printer (e.g. OMP1).
  • Under "Use" select "Select Software" and choose "Konica Minolta C551i PS".
  • Then add the printer after which a dialog will pop up where you can set the installable options:
    • For "Paper Source Unit" choose "PC-416"
    • For "Finisher" choose "FS-539 + SD-511"
    • For "Punch Unit" choose "PK-524 (2/4-Hole)"
  • To finish setup, print a random document now. It won't actually come out of the printer at this point because we still need to add authentication.
  • Open the print queue for the printer (it is either in the system bar or under System Settings - Printers and Scanners).  "Hold for Authentication". Once you resume the print job, the system will ask for a username and password where you will need to enter your math:account username and password. There's no error message if you put in a wrong username or password, in this case you will just not see any print jobs at the printer.
    Sometimes the system doesn't ask you for username/password. Then delete the print job, select the "Printer" menu and print a test page. Then try resuming again. You might have to repeat that a few times.
